Sacrament of Confirmation

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC), paragraph 1316: Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more to the Christian faith in words accompanied by Jesus.

CCC 1317: Confirmation, like Baptism, imprints a spiritual mark or indelible character on the Christian’s soul; for this reason one can receive this sacrament only once in one’s life.

Acts of the Apostles 8:14-16:  Now when the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent to them Peter and John, who came down and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit; for the Spirit had not yet fallen on any of them, but they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Below are many videos which explain what is known as “Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation”. This is to say, moving the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, to having those youth who have baptized in their infancy to be Confirmed and receive Eucharist at the 3rd grade age (7-8 years). This will take effect over the next 5 years.

Currently, we confirm children in the 6th grade. For more information please contact us: 970.887.0032.
